Bowties & Candyfloss started off as a blog a few months after I became a new mum in 2012. Being on maternity I thought this would be a fun project that Malykai and I could do 'together' posting about all the things we get up to within a year.
well...CHANGE OF PLAN!!!
This is where Bowties & Candyfloss became a brand for Newborns-12 Month olds.
I could not wait until I found out the gender of my growing bump. As soon as I found out the first thing I did was go shopping, but it wasn't really until he was born when I realised there isn't much fun fashion out there for new-borns and that’s when it hit me 3 months later...make a line for new-borns! Something that is fun, easy to move and develop in, great on the skin and not a Babygro!
I was tired of seeing the same ol' yellows and creams, pinks and blues. It was time to be creative and I’m sure I’m not the only one out there who is thinking the same or has even thought about it. Using my fashion degree that I have done nothing with for the past 3.5 years thought it was time to put it to use so I started researching and agreed that there was a space in the market and started to prepare the 1st Collection for A/W. While in the process of making the collection a reality, I thought about how I was going to deliver such good treats to my target audience; and what better way to start a business and deliver it to your target audience? By taking part in one of the biggest events for expecting and experienced mothers and families, 'The baby Show'.
Being at the Baby Show Kensington Olympia 2013 was the most amazing experience ever. In such a short space of time I brain-stormed a vision, found the right sources and produced a full collection (With the help of supportive family and friends) with sleepless nights and while being a full time mum.
I am so proud of my accomplishments so far, especially becoming a mummy, and if it was not for my pride and joy son Malykai I wouldn't be where I am today. He has given me the passion I once had for a career I was so driven about and I thank him, thank my partner and also my family and supportive friends.
So much can happen within a year and I've found that out due to experience and support. There are bigger things to come for Bowties & Candyfloss and The Baby Show was just the right platform we needed as a business to develop our progression.
I can't wait for the journey I know it’s going to be amazing.
